The Apotheosis of James I
 The large oval painting at the center of the ceiling, oriented towards the entrance rather than the throne, celebrates the Stuart creed of absolute monarchy and the divine right of kings. Raised to the heavens by a personifiction of Justice, James, holding a sceptre, his foot on an imperial globe, goes to his eternal reward, jining the King of Kings.
