Title Page of The Atheist's Tragedy

Subtitled The Honest Man's Revenge, Tourneur's somewhat inept revenge tragedy makes use of many of the conventions of the genre, including a ghost carrying a tale of his own murder, but his Christian revenger refuses to take any action at all, leaving his vengeance to the lord. Attend with patience the succes of things, the ghost instructs him, But leave revenge unto the king of Kings (4.6.21-2).
