Originally designed for Holbein's The Images of Death (sometimes called the "Dance of Death"), this woodcut of the creation of Eve out of Adam's rib also appeared in two "picture Bibles" published in 1538. Note how Holbein represents God attired as an earthly monarch wearing a familiar crown.
