God rules their hearts, and they themselves deceive,
Who dream that Kings exalt without god's leave.
Why murmur they at God for guiding so,
The hearts of Kings as oft they see him do:
Or at his works why should they take offense,
As if their wit could reach his Providence?
His just and His all-seeing wisdom knows
Both whom and why he crowns or overthrows;
And for what cause the hearts of Princes be
Enlarged or shut when we no cause can see.
