Sovereign Power

For it informs, that, if we pious grow,
And love our Princes (who those parents be,
To whom all subjects, filial duties owe)
The blessings of their favors we shall see.
It shows us, also, that, if we affect
Unrighteous ways, no wit or strength of our,
Nor any uncouth place, shall us protect
From being reached by the sovereign power.
The way of justice therefore learn thou still,
For love of goodness, or for fear of ill.
