At York each play was performed on its own pageant. In 1415 the Common Clerk of York recorded the "Order of the Pageant." On Corpus Christi Day fifty-one different pageants carrying plays from the Creation to the Last Judgment snaked through the streets of York, each stopping to perform at between twelve and sixteen different stations. |
